Mattress warranties are fake and are merely a tool of marketing. If the fine print of a warranty excludes from coverage everything that could go wrong with a mattress, then it only sounds good on the surface where it says, “20 Year Limited Warranty”. So, every consumer needs to ask themselves what are the limitations? What is not actually covered? This is something few consumers investigate and mattress manufacturers know this. So, they make cheap plastic foam mattresses that keeps the price low. They feel better than what you are sleeping on now which is the whole reason you are looking for a new mattress. But they then exclude from coverage the very things that go wrong with plastic foam mattresses, i.e., softening and body impressions.
Take for example, one of the best-selling mattress in the US today is DreamCloud. The DreamCloud warranty says under what is covered, “Deterioration causing the Mattress to have a visible indentation greater than one- and one-half inches (1.5”)…”. Thus, not until the mattress dip gets deeper than 1.5 inches, it is not covered. Most people will not be able to stand sleeping in the mattress when it gets to 0.5″ deep. They know you will dispose of the mattress before it gets over 1.5″ thus, they will never have to cover it.
Under the DreamCloud warranty where it says what is not covered: “A normal increase in softness of the foam pressure-relieving material which does not affect the pressure-relieving qualities of the Mattress.” So, they are admitting to you the consumer that their mattresses get softer. The reason is simple; all plastic foam softens with use. This is why all mattress companies that use plastic foam have exclusions in their warranties exactly the same as DreamCloud. Oh, and DreamCloud offers a lifetime warranty!! ROFL because the warranty doesn’t cover anything!!! Some company needs to get creative and come up with the same exclusions in their warranty but call it a Tripple Lifetime Warranty and they will tripple your money back if anything goes wrong under the stipulations of their warranty…which covers NOTHING!
We at Sleep Essentials offers a 10 year warranty but it covers body impressions over .05 inches, not three times that at 1.5 inches. In addition, we are the ONLY company that has a warranty that explicitly states that stains do not void our warranty. This is remarkable because stains are another way every other mattress company gets out of covering their mattresses under their warranties.
