A mattress shop that sells parts on purpose
Sleep Essentials does not sell a finished mattress. It sells the layers and the cover, and you decide what goes where. That started as a way to give people control of their own comfort. It turned out to be the reason there is no fire retardant of any kind in the bed: a kit of materials does not have to pass the test a finished mattress does, so nothing has to be added.
Every layer is certified GOLS latex, which is the only way to know it came from the sap of a rubber tree and not from a drum of styrene. We do not call the finished bed organic, because the cover is Tencel and polyester, and we would rather tell you that than have you find out.
People drive here
Customers have driven to the Roanoke showroom from Florida, Texas, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois and Canada. Most people never need to. Lee fits people over the phone with four questions: what you sleep on now, your height and weight, where you hurt, and how you like a bed to feel. Then the mattress ships to your door, and if the first arrangement is not right, you swap one layer, not the whole bed.
